Is your group interested in exploring the complexities of gender within an (un)knowing framework?
Judi Herring is a champion for self-determination and bodily autonomy who focuses on gender as one of the most fundamental cornerstones of identity. During her urologic surgical training, Judi spent time at Johns Hopkins Hospital helping to care for children born with intersex traits. The practice of surgically modifying children’s genitalia to conform to cultural expectations compelled her to explore the complexities of gender and sex development. What she discovered has important implications for anyone who seeks to contribute to creating a more socially just world.
